Method: The autoclave is
charged with the above materials, closed and heated to 215℃. by direct steam at 30 ats.
The pressure reaches 20 ats. The
temperature is maintained until there is no disulphonic acid present. The pressure is released, the vessels of 10
cu. m. each where the 1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone is precipitated with HCl. Filtered and washed with hot water till
neutral. Yield = 630 kg. dry.

This product was made at Leverkusen, the equipment used and the method
of operation, being similar to that described in the manufacture of Anthrarufin
(1,5-dihydroxy anthraquinone). The
amounts used are as follows:
1200 kg. of 1,8-dipotassium sulfonate of anthraquinone, 700 kg. of calcium oxide. 600 kg. of magnesium chloride crystals and
5500 liters of water.
The above ingredients are charged into the autoclave and heated with
open steam (30 atmospheres) to an inner temperature of 2150 at which
temperature, after shutting off the steam heating, the pressure eventually
reaches 20 atmospheres.
The temperature of 2150 is maintained for 12 hours after which the
charge is blown to the slurry tanks and isolated in the same manner as
described under the manufacture of 1,5-dihydroxy anthraquinone. The yield = 605 kg. of works product = 565
kg. of works product (100% equiv.).
Purity = 93%. Ash = 2.6%. Melting point = 187-189℃. This product is vacuum
sublimed for pharmaceutical use.

在13 m3铸钢高压釜中加入5500 L水,300 kg蒽醌-1,8-二磺酸(为40% 钾盐滤饼),700 kg 碳酸钙和600 kg 氯化镁。关闭高压釜,加热到215℃,压力达到20巴。保持温度12小时直至没有双磺酸存在,释放压力,釜内充满水,压至两个10 m3锅中,加盐酸使1,8-二羟基蒽醌沉淀,过滤,热水洗涤至中性。得到630 kg 干产品。
1,8-二羟基蒽醌俗名Chrysazin。熔点187-189℃,灰分2.6%,纯度93%。用于医药应真空升华。(含BIOS 1484, 13的译文)。

Chrysazin is produced by treating anthraquinone-1,8-potassium
disulfonate with lime, in water, at elevated temperature. Magnesium chloride must be added as a binding
agent for the potassium hydroxide being formed.
