2-Ethanesulphonyl-5-trifluoromethylaniline.
Process:
An iron reduction pan is charged with 30 kg. water, 150 kg. iron
powder, 9 kg. crude hydrochloric acid and 120 kg. 95% alcohol and heated to the
boil under reflux for 15 min. Then 150
kg. (as dry) 3-nitro-4-ethanesulphonyl benzotrifuoride are added in portions
with the solution maintained at the boil.
Reflux is continued overnight and the batch then tested for completion
(see 1 below). When reduction is
complete, a further 100 kg. alcohol is added, and the soluble iron precipitated
by the addition of 1 kg. soda ash (weakly alkaline). The iron sludge is filtered off in a press
and washed with 100 kg. boiling alcohol.
The alcohol is distilled off from the clarified solution to an inside
temperature of 1500, nitrogen being blown through for 0.5 hour at the end to
dry the base completely.
The fluid base (ca. 120 kg.) is blown to iron drums and transferred to
a still. Here it is distilled at 195 –
2100 at 10 – 15 mm. vacuum.
Yield = 115 – 118 kg.
Notes:
1. Test for completion of
reduction: 50 g. are boiled 1 hour with 100 cc. alcohol and then filtered and
the alcohol solution evaporated. 10 g.
of the oily residue are dissolved in 150 cc. benzene, 15 cc. conc. Hydrochloric
acid added, well shaken, filtered, and the benzene solution evaporated. 0.1 g. oily residue = 1% nitro.
2, Testing of iron sludge: 50
g. of sludge are boiled with 100 cc. alcohol for 1 hour, filtered and
evaporated. 0.1 g. oily residue = 0.2%
amine.
3. Estimation of crude base:
2.53 g. are weighed out, dissolved in 20 cc. acetic acid, and 20 cc.
pure hydrochloric acid and 20 g. ice added.
Then 80 cc. N/10 NaNO2 solution are run in. It is now diluted with ice water to a
temperature of 100. Further N/10 NaNO2
solution is run in until a 10 min. end-point is given on starch-iodide
paper. Nitrite used = % purity.

铁粉150 kg，水30 kg，盐酸9 kg，95% アルコ-ル 120 kgを15 m煮沸し，前记ニトロ化合物150 kgを逆流下しずつ加え煮沸を续ける。还原终ればアルコ-ル100 kgおよびNa2CO3 1kgを加え，滤過，热アルコ-ル100 kgで洗い，1500まで上げ最後は0.5 h N2を吹入んで亁燥する。液状のベ-ス约120 kgを10 – 15 mm/Hg，195 – 2100で蒸馏する。116 – 118 kg。

2-乙砜基-5-三氟甲苯胺，译自BIOS 1149.
在800 L砖衬还原釜中加入30 kg水，150 kg铁粉，9 kg 粗盐酸和120 kg 95% 乙醇。在轻微回流（约80℃）下使铁粉能被腐蚀，分批加入150 kg 3-硝基-4-乙砜基三氟甲苯，其速度要使沸腾不停止。回流过夜，然后检验还原是否完全。
检验：取50 g样品，加入100 ml乙醇，沸腾回流1小时。过滤并煮沸滤液，称取10 g油状留存物，溶解于150 ml苯中，加入150 ml纯的浓盐酸，很好震荡，过滤，蒸发掉苯溶液。每0.1 g油状物留存物相当于1% 未变化硝基物。
当还原完全后，再加入100 kg 乙醇，并用2 kg碳酸钠中和。压滤，用2 X 100 kg沸腾乙醇洗锅和压滤机，蒸去乙醇，同时进行搅拌，直至内温达150℃。最后吹氮气0.5小时，使胺彻底干燥，粗产品约120 kg，在10 – 15 mmHg及195 – 210℃，减压蒸馏，得115 – 118 kg 2-乙基砜基-5-三氟甲基苯胺。 该产品商品名Fast Golden Orange GR Base。（抄注：译文未提到产品是C.I. 冰染重氮组分19.）。
