Principal uses： Rubber and for preparation of Pink BF double paste 30%

    A)  Diazotization:

737 g Echtrotbase ITR 70% = 516 g 100% are dissolved in 800 g HCl 30% (=240 g 100%) and 2.4 l. H2O; then cooled with ice to 100C and diazotized under the surface with 345 g NaNO2 40% solution (138 g 100% NaNO2). Temperature 120C, filtered and volume made to 8 l. with H2O. Shortly before start of coupling 620 g Na Acetate crystals are added to the diazo. Reaction weak on Congo Red.

B)  Coupling Component:

750 g Naphthol AS-ITR dry is dissolved in 12 l. H2O with 354 g NaOH 37.5%  10 g Emulphor FM oil soluble are added at 98-1000C, and then 5 l. H2O are added. Temperature = 780C. Solution is filtered and volume is made to 20 l.

C)  Coupling:

The filtered diazo solution is run to a vessel containing 10 kg ice and 12 g Emulphor O and about 25 g Dekol* liquor. The Naphthol solution is then run into the diazo under the surface. Temperature at start = -30C; at end of coupling +150C. Coupling is stirred 1 hr., heated with direct steam to 98-1000C, held at this temperature for 1/4 hr., then filtered hot and washed. Dried at 60-650C and ground.

Yield:  1251 g (Theory = 1253 g).

☆   Dekol liquor = 50% solution of sulfite cellulose waste liquor pitch.
