Then about 625 kg of gaseous chlorine from cylinders are introduced with about 45 hours, the temperature being kept at 50-53<sup>0</sup>C. After removal of the hydrogen chloride and the excess chlorine by blowing out with dry air, the chlorination mixture, about 4920 kg, is blown into the brick-lined precipitating vessel containing 2200 l. of water. The temperature increases to about 80<sup>0</sup>C. Then 1600 l. of saturated sodium chloride solution 24<sup>0</sup>Be’ are slowly run in, whereupon the chloro-toluene-para acid is separated as <strong>sodium salt </strong>in crystallized form, Thee whole is cooled to 30<sup>0</sup>C by means of water, the product is sharply sucked off on a suction filter and freed as far as possible from the adhering liquor by convering with 500 kg cold water. The product discharged from the suction filter analyzed about 65%, M. The brick-lined precipitating vessel has an agitator made up of four upright wooden timbers, about 3” x 6” bolted into a cross section on the shaft at the top of the vessel at such an angle that they stir thru the vessel contains at different distances from the center.
