Zur Nitrieren dient 1 ermaill kessel von 1800 l. Inhalt, der im einen Wasserbad steht.  Die zubehoerteile des Kessels sind: ein Ruehrer, emailliert, hohlwelle zum Aussangen, Ruehrer 58 Touren, Thermometerkanuele, Dunst-

-roht aus Ton und Aluminium, Schauglas im Dunstrohr, Einlaufrohr fuer Salpetersaeure aus Aluminium von 200 l. Inhalt.

Die Saeure wird aus Ballons durch eine Aluminium-Leitung mit drehbarem Tongelen eingesaugt.

One enamelled pan of 1800 l. capacity, standing in a water bath, is used for nitration. Ancillary equipment consists of: Agitator, enameled, hollow shaft for sucking out, agitater 58 r.p.m. Thermometer pocket, enameled. Fume ducts – earthenware and aluminium, with sight glass. Inlet (aluminium) for nitric acid. Aluminium measuring vessel, 200 litres capacity for nitric acid.

The nitric acid is sucked from carboys through aluminium piping with universal joint.

450 kg. Benzolsulfosaeure-o-toluidin (Mol. Gew. 247) warden eingetragen in 1000 l. Chlorbenzol (Spez. Gew. 1.10) und bei 78⁰ geloest. Nach dem Abkuehlen auf 45⁰ werden. 0.1-1 kg. Nitrit zugesetzt und mit 210 kg.(=152 l.) Salpetersaeure 40⁰Be‘= 130 kg. HNO₃ – 100% = ca. 8% Ueberschuss nitriert. Die Nitrierung muss mit Vorsicht vorgenommen werden, um Explosionen zu vermeiden. Wasserbad und kesselinhalt werden genau auf 45⁰ eingestellt; dann laesst man zunaechst ca. 20 kg Saeure einlaufen.

450 kg. Benzenesulphonyl-o-toluidine (M.W. 247) is charged into 1000 litres Chlorobenzene (Sp. G. 1.10) and dissolved at 78⁰C. After cooling to 45⁰C. 0.1-1.0 kg. sodium nitrite is added, followed by 152 litres Nitric acid 40⁰Be. = 210 kg. = 130 kg. HNO₃ (100%) = approx. 8% excess. The nitration must be performed with care in order to avoid explosion. Water bath and contents of pan are regulated exactly to 45⁰C. Approx. 20 kg. of acid is charged into the pan.

Steigt die Temperatur in Kessel, so ist die Nitrierung im Gang und mit dem Saeure – Zulauf kann fertigefahren werden unter Kuehlung mit Eis oder Wasser. Bleibt aber die Temperatur stehen, so darf auf keinen Fall mehr Saeure zugesetzt werden. Man bringt die Reaktion dann durch Zusatz von Nitrit und vorsichtiges Anwaermen des Wasserbades in Gang. Die Nitrier – Temperatur soll 45-60⁰ allmaehlich steigend betragen. Zulauf dauer ca, 2 Std., dann wird noch ¹/₂ Std. bei 60⁰ nachgeruehrt und mit Wasser oder Eis auf 15⁰ gekuehlt.

Commencement of reaction is indicated by rise in temperature and addition of acid can proceed with cooling by ice or water. If no rise in temperature occurs under no circumstances is more acid to be added. In this event, the reaction is started by addition of nitrite and careful warming. The nitration temperature is to rise gradually from 45 to 60⁰C. Time of addition (of nitric acid) approx. 2 hours. Nitration mixture is then agitated a further ¹/₂ hour at 60⁰C. and then with water or ice cooled to 15⁰C.

Der Inhalt des Kessel wird in ein geschlossenes Steinsaugfilter eingesaugt, das einen hoch und tief verstellbaren Ruehrer und ein Vorgelegt zum Rechts- und Links-Ruehren besitzt. Durch ein Verteilungsrohr wird zunaechst mit je 100 l. Chlorbenzol und dann mit Wasser neutral gewaschen. Hierauf wird das Nitroprodukt mit Wasser aufgeschlaemmt und durch einen Tonhahn in den eisernen Destillierkessel abgelassen. Dieser ist ca. 3000 l. gross und besitzt Dampfmantel, Ruehrwerk, direktes Dampfrohr, Schauglas in der Dest. Leitung, Kuehler, Florentiner Flasche, scheidekanne.

The content of the pan is then sucked on to an earthenware vacuum filter, provided with a downwards and upwards adjustable agitator with gearing for right and left-handed stirring. The mass is washed twice with 100 litres M.C.B. and then to neutrality with water (through distributor). The nitroproduct is then slurried with water and blown through an earthenware cock to the still. This is of about 3000 litres capacity and is provided with: Steam jacket.  Agitator. Direct steam leg.  Sight glass in distillation line.  Cooler.  Saparator (overflow type). Separator (bottom run-off type).

Das noch anhaftende Chlorbenzol (ca. 60 kg.) wird mit Dampf abgetrieben und laeuft durch den Kuehler und durch die Florentiner Flasche in das Chlorbenzol-Vorratsgefaess. Das Nitroprodukt wird auf einem Holzsaugfilter von 1500 l. Inhalt abfiltriert und in einem Cylindertrockner mit Dampf von 3-4 Atm. ge trocknet.

Ausbeute an Nitrobenzolsulfosaeure-o-toluidin:

445 kg. = 98.9% vom Benzolsulfosaeure-o-toluidin.   Theorie: 118.2 % = 83.7% der Theorie.

About 60 kg. M.C.B. is distilled off with steam and runs through the cooler and through the Overflow separator into the M.C.B. storage vessel. The nitro product is filtered off on a wooden vacuum filter of 1500 l. capacity and dried in a cylinder dryer with steam at 3-4 ats.

Yield of nitrobenzene sulphonyl-o-toluidine:

445 kg. 98.9% from benzene sulphonic acid （英文这里错了，应是 Benzenesulphonyl-o-toluidine）.

Theoretical = 118.2%.  Actual yield = 83.7% of theory.

加注：

首先，CAS号大，不等于是新的产物，只是Beil.手册和美国化学文摘未摘录以前的资料。

其次，BIOS是二次文献，可靠性有问题，上面的英译文已是不错了。请读者对比一下。

讨论：

上述资料至少可供年轻人学习外文。再有大学和研究单位为什么不去看看这类资料，最近我看到《有机化合物合成手册》是2011年版的，其中合成方法都是实验室合成方法，其实不少化合物早已有生产工艺，为什么不用？
