Plant: 1 Cast iron reduction vessel with run-off,
7,000 l. capacity, with propeller stirrer.
1 Press for iron sludge.
1 Run-off vat, 10,000 l. capacity with copper cooling coil.
1 Iron nutsche, rubber-lined, 3,000 l. capacity. 1 Iron blow-egg, 8,000 l. capacity.
Materials:
790 kg. 100% 2-nitrophenol-4-sulphonamide. 400 kg. iron borings. 50 kg. dilute acetic acid. 465 kg. caustic liquor.
15 kg. sodium sulphite. 400 l. hydrochloric
acid. 900 kg. salt.
The reduction vessel is charged with 2,000 l. of water,
400 kg. of iron, and sufficient acetic acid to start the reaction. It is heated
with direct steam to 950C., and the reduction carried out by the
gradual addition of the nitro compound, making sure that each portion is fully
reduced before any further addition is made. After the final addition excess
iron must be present and slight acetic acidity. The temperature throughout is
maintained at 950C.
The reduction is completed when a drop with dilute
caustic liquor solution no longer gives a yellow coloured solution. This stage
is usually reached in about 1 hour. When this stage is reached, the whole is
treated with 450 l. of caustic liquor and 20 kg. of sodium sulphite. The iron
sludge is filtered off and the reduction mixture transferred to the vat fitted
with cooling coils. It si cooled to 20-250C. and is treated with
sufficient acid to make weakly acid to Deltapaper. Altogether about 400 l. of
hydrochloric acid are required. The iron residue press is washed down to a
total volume of 6,000 l. A further 2,000 l. can be used for the next batch.
The crystalline batch is filtered off on a nutsche,
well pressed, and dried. Yield: 80% theory.

在7000 L铸铁还原锅中加入2000 kg水,400 kg铁粉和足以启动反应的醋酸。用直接蒸汽加热到950C,逐步加入硝基化合物进行还原,在加入新的硝基物时要确证已加入的硝基物已还原完全。最后一次加料后必须存在过量的铁和醋酸的酸性,全程保持温度在950C.
如果一滴样品遇NaOH溶液不再得到黄色溶液,则还原完成,还原通常约1小时达到。反应物用450 L NaOH溶液和20 kg
Na2SO3处理。过滤掉铁泥。还原滤液冷却到20-250C,用400 L盐酸酸化至对硝氮黄试纸呈酸性。铁泥的洗水体积为6000 L, 2000 L可用于下次加料。压滤(加注:Nutsche 德文,是抽滤槽,应该是抽滤),干燥。产品收率80%。

在还原锅内加水800升,搅拌,加入250公斤铁粉及34公斤工业盐酸。升温至900C, 搅拌半小时。以6-7小时加入2-硝基苯酚-4-磺酰胺滤饼,温度控制在90-950C. 加毕,以滤纸上无黄色渗圈为终点。到终点后,加入焦亚硫酸钠20公斤,以30%液碱230公斤调整至pH为14. 搅拌半小时,过滤。滤渣(铁泥)以200升热水洗140-150公斤。
