Outline: 工艺概要：Naphthalene-1,6-disulphonic acid is fused with caustic soda. 

Plant: 设备： 1 Fusion vessel, 2200 mm. wide X 1130 mm. high with 3 armed agitator nearly scraping sides and bottom.  The vessel is of cast iron containing 5% of nickel.  It is gas heated and has a bottom run-off with wheel valve of special type.

1  Agitated vat, capacity 25,000 l.  40 r.p.m.。    1  Nutsche for acid filtration with run-off to blow-egg.  Capacity 6000-8000 l.

Materials: 所用原料： Naphthalene-1,6-disulphonic acid 1145 kg. 100% M.W. 288 equivalent to 275 kg. NaNO2 .

Caustic soda flake  825 kg. (=5.17 mol./mol.).。    Hydrochloric acid 19-200Be’  3300 l.

Process: 操作步骤：

The caustic soda is dissolved in water and made up to 40% strength.  This is heated in the open melt vessel to 270-280℃. and the addition of the naphthalene-1,5-disulphonic acid then started.  The temperature is raised gradually during the addition until it finally reaches 330℃.  The fusion is regarded as being complete when no further water distils off.

The melt is run to a vat containing water, and hydrochloric acid run in to acidify during 1.5-2 hours.  After stirring to remove sulphur dioxide it is cooled to 20℃., filtered and washed, firstly with 1000 l. of saturated and then with 1000 l. of half-saturated brine.  The final volume of the filtrate is 8400 l. (180Be’) containing the equivalent of 2.4 g. NaNO2 per 1000 cc.

The product is estimated by titration with diazotized m-nitroaniline in acetic acid solution.   Yield: 80% theory.

将825 kg片状氢氧化钠溶解于水，浓度为40%，在碱熔锅中加热到270-280℃。然后开始加入萘-1,6-二磺酸，在加料过程中温度逐渐上升，直至达到330℃。当不再有水蒸汽时碱熔完毕。

熔融物流入含水槽中，于1.5-2小时内加盐酸酸化。搅拌除去SO2后，冷却到20℃，过滤并洗涤，第一次用1000 L饱和盐水，第二次用1000 L半饱和盐水。滤液的最终体积为8400 L，比重1.14。每升消耗2.4 g 亚硝酸钠。收率：80%。（抄注： 译文从来不提用途！）。
