I.  Arbeitsweise:

In einem Ruehrwerkskessel werden in 2000 l. Kaltem Wasser 435 kg. 1-Amino-4-brom-anthrachinon-2-

-sulfosaeures Natrium 32.3%ig, 420 kg. Hexahydroanilin 100%ig, 192 kg. Natronlauge 30%ig, 7 kg. Kupfersulfat

krist. und 20 kg. Carboraffin angeruehrt. Man fuellt auf 4000 l. auf und heizt bei angeschlossem Rueckflusskuehler mit direktem Dampf allmaehlich auf 95-100⁰. Nach beendeter Reaktion werden 110 kg. Salzsaeure 30%ig zugegeben und das ueberschuessige Hexahydroanilin mit Wasserdampf abgetrieben.

Die fertige Schmelze wird durch eine Presse geklaert und bei 90⁰ mit 10% Kochsalz ausgesalzen. Der ausgefallen Farbstoff wird heiss auf eine Nutsche abgesaugt und mit einer 50⁰ warmen verduennten Kochsalzloesung gewaschen.

Ausbeute:  276 kg. Pulver Stamm.

II.  Apparatur:

1.)  8000 l. Ruehrwerkskessel, alkalisch ausgemauert. Eisenfrei.

2.)  Eiserner Kuehler, der auf Rueckfluss und Destillation geschaltet werden kann.

3.)  3500 l. Vorlage, alkalisch ausgemauert.         
  4.)  Hoelzerne Presse mit Koerpertuechern.

5.)  8000 l. Ruehrwerkskessel, alkalisch ausgemauert, Eisenfrei.

6.)  9 qm Nutsche, alkalisch ausgemauert, mit dazugehoeriger Vorlage.

Plant:

8000 l. agitated vessel lined with alkali resisting tiles, free from iron.

Iron coil for reflux and distillation.            3500 l. receiver with alkali-resisting tile lining.

Filter press with cotton cloth.

8000 l. agitated vessel with alkali-resisting tile lining.

9 sq. m. nutsch with alkali-resisting tile lining.

Method:

The agitated vessel is charged with 2000 l. of water, 435 kg. 4-bromo-1-aminoanthraquinone-2-sulfonic acid,

sodium salt (32.3%), 420 kg. hexahydroaniline 100%, 192 kg. caustic soda (30%), 7 kg. crystallized copper sulfate and 20 kg. of Carboraffin and the whole stirred. The volume is made up to 4000 l. with water and heated with direct or coil steam to 95-100⁰C. Test the solution in water. At the end of the reaction 110 kg. of hydrochloric acid (30%) is added and the excess hexahydroaniline is removed by steam.

The completed reaction mixture is screened through a press and salted out with 10% of salt at 90⁰C. The precipitated dyestuff is filtered hot on a nutsch and washed with warm brine.

Yield = 276 kg. at powder standard.

To an iron free kettle add 2000 l. cold water,  435 kg. bromamine acid (1-amino-4-bromoanthraquinone-2-

-sodium sulfate) paste (32.3%), 420 kg. hexahydro aniline 100%, 192 kg. 30% sodium hydroxide, 7 kg. copper sulfate crystals, and 20 kg. carboraffin (charcoal). Dilute and hold until bromamine acid has disappeared. Test by acidifying a drop of the charge in water on a spot plate. Bromamine acid will show a red run out.

When satisfactory add 110 kg. 30% hydrochloric acid to neutralize excess sodium hydroxide. Then steam distill of excess hexahydroaniline, distilling until a sample of distillate shows only a trace of titration with acid.

Filter the solution at the boil in a filter press. Salt the filtrate to 10% with sodium chloride at 90⁰C. Filter off the product on a nutsch while the charge is hot. Wash the cake with dilute salt solution at 50⁰C.

The Yield is 276 kg. standard.

The hexahydro aniline distillate is used over again several times.
