(75 Nitrite % crude Xylidine [87-59-2] and 25 Nitrite % 2-amino-1,3-dimethylbenzene [87-62-7]) --> Resorcinol

(Note: This crude Xylidine is recovered from the mother liquor obtained from the separation of Xylidine as Sulphate, and consists of a mixture of isomeric Xylidines [1300-73-8]).

A 900L solution of 50kg nitrite Sulphanilic acid [121-57-3] (M.W. 173) is diluted with water to a volume of 2,000L. After addition of 180L HCl 19.50Be’ and about 1,000kg ice, diazotize with 50kg Nitrite (as a 30% solution) at 5°C. 得重氮盐 [6118-33-8]. Volume 3,500L

50kg Nitrite Resorcinol [108-46-3] (M.W. 110) is dissolved in 1,200L water, 120kg Sodium Bicarbonate is added and the solution cooled to 0°C. with about 500kg ice.  The diazo [6118-33-8] is run in Temperature 5°C, Volume 6,000L. Coupling is rapid, and when complete is brought neutral with about 50L HCl 19.50Be’. 100kg Soda ash and 150L caustic soda 40% are added. The reaction is strongly alkaline. 所得单偶氮染料，其CAS号为[2050-34-2]

37.5kg Nitrite Crude Xylidine (M.W. 121) together with 12.5kg nitrite 2-amino-1,3-dimethylbenzene are dissolved in 1,000L water, 1,000kg ice, 450kg salt and 200L HCl 19.50Be’. Temperature -18°C. The hydrochloride is diazotized with 53kg nitrite as a 30% solution. Temperature -5°C. This diazo is run to the above intermediate product [2050-34-2]. The reaction is strongly alkaline. The coupling is stirred overnight. Next morning the batch is brought faintly acid to litmus with about 250L HCl 19.50Be’ and then salted out with 25% salt, warmed to 80°C and filtered. 得酸性橙24 [1320-07-6]. End volume 12,000L.

Yield = 450kg, Dry = 600kg satandard.
